Molecular weight
Molecular weight is often determined by one of the following methods:
- gel permeation chromatography (also gives polydispersity)
- viscometry
- light scattering (absolute molecular weight)
- MALDI (Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption / Ionization) and TOF (Time-Of-Flight)
The solvents routinely used for this analysis are THF, water, DMSO and DMF. If necessary, the analysis can also be carried out in any other solvent or solvent mixture (e.g. chloroform, hexafluoroisopropanol, buffer with different ionic strength...)
