Doping Analysis

Due to ongoing new achievements in pharmaceutical research both doping and doping analysis have evolved into two concurring, very complex and dynamic fields. Efficient combatting of illegal drug abuse in high-performance sports affords profound knowledge of drug metabolism.

Employing in vitro models we try to mimic metabolic pathways of various doping substances. Metabolite analysis based on GC-MS and LC-MS-NMR methods allows structure elucidation and in further consequence target-oriented synthesis of main metabolites. The development of intelligent synthetic routes towards these target molecules is of special interest for doping analysis because the unequivocal proof of illicit drug abuse affords appropriate reference substances.
